Bereavement Services
Through its pastoral care department, Christ Hospital provides a weekly bereavement group, and offers referrals to those experiencing the loss of a loved one. 201.795.8397
Child Abuse Prevention
A program that provides assessment, counseling, and referral services, which is available on an outpatient basis. This program is sponsored by the behavioral health department. 201.795.8375
Childbirth Classes
Weekend program offered to expectant mothers and their partners; program is coordinated by the public relations department. 201.795.8030
Consultation and Educational Services
A variety of programs and seminars which can be provided to community groups, agencies, neighborhood schools, and religious organizations that focus on issues of wellness, parenting, stress, suicide prevention and substance abuse. Healthy Aging
A program that provides risk assessment, health education, screenings, and prevention education for African American, Latino, and Asian elderly populations throughout Jersey City to prevent the occurrence of drug/alcohol abuse. Healthy Families
A program that provides case management, counseling and support services for first-time mothers of newborns. This program is sponsored by the behavioral health department.
Jersey City Community Project
A program based on the "Harm Reduction Model" that provides a drop in center for homeless individuals who are at great risk of substance abuse and HIV. This center provides food, showers and laundry facilities for these clients. In addition, counseling and referral services are provided. Outpatient Mental Health Services
Services offered on a sliding scale which include assessments, counseling, psychiatric evaluations, medication monitoring for individuals, families, couples and groups of all ages. This program is sponsored by the behavioral health department. 201.795.8375
Physician Referral Service
A free community service that offers the names of physicians in the community who specialize in everything from allergies to vascular surgery. This program is sponsored by the medical staff office. 201.795.8358
Psychiatric Emergency Services
A 24-hour, on-site assessment, crisis invention, and referral service located within the emergency department. This program is sponsored through the behavioral health services department. 201.795.8374 or 201.915.2210
Rape Crisis Program
A Hudson County program that provides counseling, advocacy and referral services for incest and rape victims of 13 years of age and up. This program is sponsored by the behavioral health department. 201.795.8741
Safe Syringe Disposal Program
A free program offered to the community that ensures the needles of diabetics and other injection-dependent individuals do not hurt their families or the environment. Christ Hospital provides the reusable, durable containers from Bio Systems for home disposal of syringes. These containers are large enough so that the syringes do not need to be broken. When the container is full, it can be brought to the hospital, and exchanged for a new one. The program is sponsored by the hospital's environmental services department. 201.795.8366
Second Chance
A substance abuse intensive, outpatient program which provides case management, counseling, parenting groups, and supportive services for women with the major goal of reuniting the family unit. This program is sponsored by the behavioral health department. 201.795.8083
SHIP
Senior Health Insurance Program, which provides Medicare, Medicaid and other insurance beneficiaries, with assistance to handle their health insurance claims and bills. The program is sponsored by the hospital's volunteer services department. 201.795.8613
Strengthening Families
A substance abuse education and prevention program for children between the ages of five and twelve and their families. This program is sponsored by the behavioral health department. 201.795.8375
Substance Abuse Services
Education and counseling for adults and adolescents and their families with alcohol and / or drug problems; services include: assessment and referrals, outpatient individual, family and group sessions, inpatient detoxification, and preventive programs. TANF Initiative for Parents (TIP)
A program for parents receiving TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) benefits which include social support services, case management, health education and parenting courses, and vocational services; all with the goal of these parents becoming self-sufficient. This program is sponsored by the behavioral health department.
Tobacco Independence Program
A program that provides services to assist individuals in quitting smoking and breaking their dependence on nicotine. This program utilizes various techniques and works with the individual in developing a specific program tailored to their needs. 201.795.8683 or 1-866-904-8281
Volunteer Services Program
Programs primarily for high school students and senior citizens whereby local high schools refer students to participate in mandatory community service hours at Christ Hospital through the junior volunteer program, and seniors are provided with the opportunity to serve the hospital. Transportation and a complimentary meal are provided. This service is handled by the volunteer services department. 201.795.8301
Women's Project
A grant-funded program which offers women in Hudson County a variety of services and resources, including assessment and referral programs, individual and group counseling, educational workshops, and sessions on such topics as separation and divorce, parenting and assertiveness training, and basic financial information. 201.795.8416
